Notes from Meeting 5, March 1, 2014

It was agreed by the members present that the group should focus on education. In particular, the urgency and current available solutions for global warming.

Leslie Taylor of Sustainable Fox Valley attended and told us of a new tariff system on renewables that requires homeowners to install renewable generation systems that will generate equal or less energy for the home using the previous 12 months as a guide. In her case, We Energies required her to disconnect several PV panels that had been installed, since they would have produced more energy than her house used for the year.

We decided this might be a point of action for the group, raising awareness of this new, Walker initiative to discourage renewables and for We Energies to cover it’s cost overruns on coal plant expansions.
